About The Masterson Method

What is it?

The Masterson Method is an interactive method of equine bodywork that helps relieve built-up tension in core muscles and key junctions of the body that affect the horse’s performance. Using light touch and gentle movement when the horse is in a relaxed state, this innovative bodywork allows the horse to release deep, accumulated pain and tension in muscles and connective tissue.

Tell me more

Developed by Jim Masterson, former equine massage therapist for the USET Endurance Team, this unique way of working with the horse utilizes the parasympathetic nervous system to help release layers of deep-seated muscle tension, promote relaxation and improve performance. This thoughtful and effective approach to equine massage can help relieve stress and is a valuable tool for your horse's health and overall well-being.

What to expect

Horses have stress and tension in their bodies just like us and sometimes they need help to let it go. You may see your horse yawn, lay down, roll, fall asleep, lick and chew, and rub their eyes and faces during or after a session and this means they are responding to the bodywork. Your horse may need a day or two after the bodywork to allow his nervous system time to adjust.
